You bet they can! Helping them quit sugar is possibly one of the best things you can do for their health.
It’s well documented that sugar causes tooth decay, behavioural problems, obesity and may lead to type 2 diabetes in children. Cutting out the obvious sugars like soft drinks and chocolate is a given, but it’s the added sugars in common foods like muesli bars and cereals that prove a little trickier.
The American Heart Association recommends that children aged 4-8 eat no more than 3 teaspoons of sugar a day. But the scary truth is they’re consuming more than 7 times that amount!
But not to worry, we've got you covered. Children are a-ok to be quitting sugar and more than welcome on our online Programs. Kids are in a great position to quit sugar while they're young and get a head start on developing a healthy relationship with food that will support them later in life.
